High riskHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Newport ht70 ventilator plus. The C92 capacitor of HT70 ventilators may fail, disabling the output of the power management chip causing the ventilator to cease operation and stop ventilation. An audible alarm will be initiated, and the safety valve will open. In addition to the C92 issue, HT70 ventilators containing C159 capacitors reported failures of the shutdown buzzer alarm test, and as a result, the alarm "hardly sounded" or was of insufficient volume or duration per specification, placing a patient at risk of respiratory failure due to unexpected loss of ventilation.
