An official Health Canada notice concerns Trek and electra brand bicycles with coaster brakes recalled. The grease inside the coaster brake hub assembly on the affected models does not provide adequate lubrication for the hub’s internal sliding surfaces. This can cause accelerated wear and internal damage, which may prevent the brake from working. The rider could lose control of the bicycle, posing risk of a fall hazard. As of November 10th, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or in the United States. Published 2025-11-13.
