An official Health Canada notice concerns Hyundai. Issue: on certain hybrid vehicles, a problem in the hybrid power control unit (hpcu) could cause it to overheat. Note: this problem could cause the vehicle not to start or to enter a reduced power mode and the malfunction indicator lamp to display. Safety risk: an hpcu that overheats can create a fire risk. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the hpcu software. Published 2026-05-28.
