United States Food recalls: what this hub covers

Food recall notices for the United States help you check the products you own. Food is recalled for reasons including an allergen that is not named on the label, microbial contamination such as Listeria or Salmonella, and foreign matter like metal or plastic. Undeclared allergens are a common reason for food recalls. A recall may name specific batch or lot codes, pack sizes and best-before or use-by dates. Check every identifier in the official notice: some recalls cover all batches or are later expanded.

This hub lists relevant notices available from the Food and Drug Administration, USDA FSIS and other official food-safety notices we index. Many US recall listings are company announcements hosted by an agency rather than written by it. Distribution can be listed state by state. Check the states, retailers and product identifiers in the original notice, and distinguish a recall from a public health alert or another safety warning.

How to check if you are affected

A food notice can apply to a narrow group of products rather than everything sold under a brand name. Before acting, compare batch or lot codes, barcode numbers, best-before or use-by dates, pack sizes and distribution details against the product you own. The official notice may also name retailers, regions, images, component versions or distribution periods. These details matter because they help distinguish an affected item from a similar product that is not included in the notice. If something does not match, do not assume the alert applies without checking the source page.

  • Batch or lot code against the official notice
  • Best-before or use-by date, including any expanded date range
  • Product name, variant and pack size
  • States or regions and retailers listed in the notice

What to do if your product is on the list

If your pack matches a recalled item, do not eat or serve it. Follow the official notice for the affected batches, consumer advice and return or disposal instructions. Keep the packaging details available so the retailer or recalling company can identify the product. Do not assume that a different date or retailer rules out a match if the notice covers all lots or has been updated. If you feel unwell after consuming the product, seek medical advice and mention the recall.

Use the latest-recalls list below to scan current notices, then open a card when you find a possible match. The detail page brings together the title, affected-product information, identifiers, dates, images where available and a direct source link. You can also use the filters and search tools to narrow the results by words, category and country.

This page is updated as source material becomes available through the RecallScope data pipeline. A missing result does not prove that a product is safe or that no notice exists: regulators can change, correct or remove public information, and notices can apply only to specific products or markets. Keep packaging, receipts, serial details and other identifiers until you have compared them with the original notice. They are often needed to obtain a repair, replacement or refund.

RecallScope is not affiliated with any government agency or regulator. Always open the official notice for the full product list. Information provided for general guidance; always follow the official agency notice.

Frequently asked questions

Compare the brand, product name, pack size, batch or lot code, barcode and date marking on your item with the original notice. A matching product name alone is often not enough because recalls can apply only to specific batches or dates.
This hub uses the Food and Drug Administration, USDA FSIS and other official food-safety notices we index. The source link on every recall card takes you to the official notice so you can confirm its scope and instructions.
