An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Viking Gas Ranges (2 models). The oven can turn on by itself and presents a burn hazard. Published 2016-02-11.
What to do now
If you suspect you have one of these products, first check the model number. This can be found on a label in one of three locations: - On the bottom of the control panel above the door, - On the front of the oven cavity below the control panel, or - On the inside of the left side panel; which can be seen by removing the left front grate and burner bowl. Consumers should only search for the model number when the range is not hot. If you do have a model which is affected contact Applico immediately and we will arrange for a technician to visit and remedy the issue. We can also advise on steps to take to continue to use the range safely before the repair is carried out.
