An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Various Giant and Liv Bicycles. The bikes do not meet relevant standards, that state: - Maximum overall handlebar width should not exceed 700mm. - Requires a chain guard to prevent entrapment of clothing/body parts. No reports of injuries or incidents have been received by Giant. Published 2017-01-25.

What to do now

Owners should contact the Authorised Giant Retailer who the bike was purchased from or any other Authorised Giant retailer to arrange a time to have the handlebars on their bicycle appropriately modified and or the necessary chain guide fitted.
