An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Tyco, VIGILANT MX4428 and F4000 Fire indicator Panels. A software bug may result in an alarm failing to sound when required. Published 2014-03-03.
What to do now
Building Owners – immediately contact your fire alarm service company and ask (i) if they are aware of the issue (ii) what action they are taking to check your fire alarm system for the fault and (iii) if the fault is present whether they have taken steps to repair it. Fire Contractors - Check MX4428 and F4000 fire indicator panels to determine what firmware they version they run on. Contact Tyco New Zealand for (i) a database assessment tool to quickly identify vulnerable panels and (ii) obtain free replacement firmware V3.15NA or V3.22N.
