An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns RYOBI 40 Litre Air Compressor Sold at Bunnings stores. The wiring to the overload switch under the compressor housing is not reinforced insulated with 2 layers of insulation and is in a reachable location. If the user reaches into the inside of the cavity of the compressor body and touches it there is a risk of electric shock. Published 2020-04-07.
What to do now
Stop using and unplug the Ryobi Compressor from the mains power and return it to your nearest Bunnings store for a replacement new version of the product (when available) or a refund.
