An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns OX Tools — Ratchet Tie Down Strap. The tie downs have incorrect labelling stating a lashing capacity that is higher than the breaking point of the straps. If a higher load is tied down, it may break and pose a crash and injury hazard to other road users. Published 2017-06-30.
What to do now
Stop using your strap. Return it to the place of purchase for a new compliant strap or a full refund. OX Ratchet Straps purchased after the 1st of June 2017 have the correct lashing capacity and are suitable for use.
