An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Out Of The Blue Sound Monster sold at various retailers. Splosh Australia is recalling the Out Of The Blue Sound Monster toys. The product was not tested before it was sold. It is also missing required warnings about the dangers button or coin batteries pose to children and what to do if someone is suspected of swallowing or inserting one into their body. Children are at risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death if they swallow or place button or coin batteries inside their bodies. Serious injury can occur in as little as 2 hours and the results can be fatal. Published 2026-10-23.
What to do now
Stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children. Return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, contact Splosh Australia. If you suspect your child has swallowed or placed a button battery in their nose or ears take them to the Emergency Department immediately.
