An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Makita Petrol Chainsaws (various models). The automatic chain brake activation is not smooth and when a kickback occurs the chain brake may not stop the chain as expected. A rotating chain after kickback poses an injury hazard to users. (No injuries have been reported). Published 2018-07-03.
