An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Makita Petrol Chainsaws (various models). The automatic chain brake activation is not smooth and when a kickback occurs the chain brake may not stop the chain as expected. A rotating chain after kickback poses an injury hazard to users. (No injuries have been reported). Published 2018-07-03.

Stop using your chainsaw if it is identified below and take it to the store you bought it from or to the nearest Makita Authorised Service Agent. Makita NZ Ltd will arrange free of charge modification.
