An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Honda Outboard BF115, 135, 150 and 350. Quick shifting from forward to reverse gear can create high loads within the shift actuator rod. The shift actuator rod tip can break over time due to fatigue. Published 2025-07-11.
What to do now
The owner should contact their nearest Honda Marine dealership and have the shift actuator replaced and ECU program modified to prevent further high loads. Replacement parts will be available from October 2025.
