An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns 3M DBI-SALA 16 Foot Talon Self Retracting Lifeline. A small number of the DBI-SALA® 16 Ft. Talon™ Self Retracting Lifelines are defective due to an assembly error. This notice only applies to the 16 ft version of the Talon; no other versions of the Talon are affected by this condition. The assembly error would result in the unit not arresting a fall, which could result in serious injury or death. Published 2018-09-14.

What to do now

Immediately stop use and inspect all 16 ft Talons to review the lot codes. Contact ANZFallProtectionQuality@mmm.com who will advise on collection of the affected product which will be inspected and repaired or replaced at no cost to you.
