An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns 2L Harvest Canola Oil. The handle can break off the bottle, which may fall and spill oil. A falling bottle could knock pots/pans and splash hot liquid or food and cause burns. Spilt oil can also cause slips or catch fire if it comes into contact with an open flame. Published 2018-02-13.
What to do now
Please return the faulty oil bottle to one of the supermarkets for a refund. Alternatively, you can remove the handle and continue using the bottle by holding it directly.
