High riskHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Mitsubishi. On certain vehicles, manufacturing defects could cause internal shorts or current leaks to develop within battery cells, which could result in reduced voltage, the illumination of the EV system warning lamp and a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Electrical shorts could also result in thermal damage to battery cells and surrounding components, increasing the risk of a fire. Both these issues could cause personal injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace affected batteries. Published 2013-08-08.
