Medium riskHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Mitsubishi. On certain vehicles, due to improper manufacturing, the electrical resistance inside the impact sensor for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) air bag system may have increased. As a result, abnormal communication may be detected by the ECU causing the SRS warning lamp to illuminate. If a vehicle is involved in a collision that warrants front, side, and/or curtain air bag deployment when the SRS warning lamp is illuminated, frontal air bag deployment could be delayed and/or the side and curtain air bag may not deploy. Failure of an airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the SRS impact sensor with a countermeasure unit.
