High riskHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Blue bird. On certain propane-powered school buses, fittings used on various propane lines could fail. Should this occur, pressure inside the propane lines would cause the hoses to completely separate from the fittings. In the event of propane line failure, the fuel system is designed to prevent propane leakage using various safety mechanisms to cut off fuel supply to the engine, thereby minimizing the amount of fuel release, as well as the risk of a fire or an explosion. However, loss of propane fuel supply would result in engine stalling which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: CleanFuel USA technicians will replace the propane fittings. Published 2011-11-15.
