An official ACCC notice concerns Tilt & Recline Shower Commode - Aspire 46cm and 53cm. When the seat is tilted forwards again to the upright position the fingers may be crushed if they are trapped between the seat frame and the frame stopper. The stopper is a functional necessity required to stop the tilting action when the seat returns to the horizontal position. When used correctly by a carer, all users fingers, hands, limbs should be positioned away from all moving parts of the commode including the tilting mechanism. Published 2019-05-29.
What to do now
Aidacare will contact all affected customers to arrange on site installation of pivot guards. The risk will be mitigated via the addition of a pivot guard to the commode on either side of the frame. For further information, contact Aidacare Customer Service on 1300 216 898 or online@aidacare.com.au
