Last checked

An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Miele WWG880 WCS washing machine. Miele New Zealand is recalling the Miele WWG880 WCS washing machine due to a risk of overheating. The appliance’s spin cycle may operate with an incorrect speed acceleration, which may affect the machine’s overall performance. This can cause the machine to move during operation. If the appliance is installed on a platform with a height over 15cm and the appliance is not secured with a mounting bracket in accordance with the Instruction Manual, it can move during operation and tilt off the platform. This can result in the appliance’s heating system not being covered by water, which creates a risk of overheating. The risk does not arise if the appliance is used on the ground, or on a platform lower than 15cm, or if the appliance is secured in accordance with the Instruction Manual. Published 2026-05-29.
What to do now
Owners of affected appliances will receive a software update and a mounting bracket to ensure that appliances that are used on a platform with a height over 15cm are securely installed in accordance with the Instruction Manual. Owners of affected appliances will be contacted by Miele to schedule a time for technician to visit, to ensure the software update is correctly installed and to ensure any appliances used on a platform with a height over 15cm are correctly installed. Note: Sufficient quantities of the brackets are currently available for the number of appliances estimated to be used on a platform with a height above 15cm. Further parts will be available and all consumers will receive a bracket whether or not the appliance is currently used on a platform. For further information, please contact Miele on 0800 4 MIELE.
