An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Lithium battery management recommendations for FELCO end users. Batteries may swell and/or create internal sparks and/or burn. There is a risk of minor burns mainly on the back, if the back-pack is worn. In the event of a fire caused by a battery, there is a risk of serious injury. If a battery fire spreads due to the contact with flammable materials, the battery being left unattended and/or not being properly stored, the risk can be major property damage and possible death from fire or smoke.
