An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Jet Bandsaws: JWBS-15M, JWBS-18M, JWBS-20M. Machine possibly not earthed correctly. Caused by failure of a star washer to penetrate the powder coat causing a bad earth connection to the chassis of the machine. Electrical Hazard due to possible lack of earth. Published 2019-03-22.
What to do now
If in private use please contact Carbatec to arrange a "Test and Tag" as soon as possible. Alternatively an Electrician can check the machine. Do not use until tagged or checked by an electrician. Any failure of Test and Tag or check by electrician then please call Carbatec to arrange repair. If in commercial use, please ensure the machine has a current "Test and Tag". If it has a current pass then it is OK. Please advise Carbatec that it passes Test and Tag. If in commercial use and not "tagged" please arrange to have it "Test and Tagged" immediately. Advise Carbatec of result please.
