An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Goldair GBH400 Bathroom Heaters (batch G328 only). A specific batch of GBH400 Bathroom Heaters have the potential to cause a fire. (Note: other Goldair heaters are not included in the recall) Published 2016-06-24.
What to do now
Stop using your heater. Check the rating label on the left hand side of the heater to see if it is affected, see product identifiers below. If your heater is affected, Goldair will send you a free replacement. To take up the offer - you need to ring Goldair to register. Goldair will send you a recall pack including a freepost courierbag. Use a licenced electrical worker to remove the unit. Then cut off the power cord and return it along with the rating label sticker (shown) to Goldair using the courier bag provided. The heater should then be destroyed. It must not be reused or resold. When received by Goldair, a new model Goldair bathroom heater will be sent back to you.
