An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Ariston and Indesit Tumble Dryers. If the lint/fluff piece is significant in mass and density, the ignited lint/fluff may result in flames that could extend through the inlet grill into the drum and potentially ignite the clothes load in the drum. Published 2016-03-21.
What to do now
If you have an affected dryer contact Arisit Pty Ltd (NZ) to arrange for the free of charge modification. You may continue to use your tumble dryer whilst waiting for the free of charge modification, however, we require that you do not leave your dryer unattended during operation as an extra precaution (i.e. Do not leave the house or leave the dryer on whilst asleep).
