An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns Annabel Trends - Baby Banana Teether- sold at Not Socks. The Baby Banana Teether does not comply with the ProductSafety Standard (Childrens Toys) Regulations 2005. This piece of legislation mandates AS/NZS ISO 8124.1:2002 Safety of toys Part 1: Safety aspects related to mechanical and physical properties (the Toy Standard), with amendments, as the official product safety standard that suppliers of childrens toys must comply with. Teethers do not comply with the Toy Standard if their size and shape mean that they risk becoming lodged in a childs airway, and/or creating an impaction hazard. The size of the teether means that it is possible to be put entirely in a childs mouth, making it a choking hazard. Published 2025-02-05.
