An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns AEG 58V 4Ah and 8Ah Batteries. The product is being voluntarily recalled due to a defective component in the battery on a limited production run.If the battery safety mechanisms fail then there is a risk that the battery may smoke and / or catch fire. Published 2023-02-07.

What to do now

We kindly ask that you immediately stop using the AEG 58V 8Ah Ultimate HD batteries or the AEG 58V 4Ah Ultimate battery and remove it from the tool or charger that it may be in use with. Please contact Techtronic Industries N.Z. Limited by telephone, email, or via post at the address below who will advise you how to proceed with your options in respect of the Product. Your options are: Contact Techtronic Industries Customer Service to return the product (battery) for a replacement battery to be provided of the equivalent Ah, or: Return the product (as a whole) to the place of purchase for a full refund of the full purchase price of the Product;

58V 4.0Ah & 8.0Ah batteries manufactured with a serial number manufacturing code of H2022, I2022, J2022, 42 2022, 43 2022, 44 2022, 45 2022, 46 2022, 47 2022 or 48 2022 risk having the defective component. They been sold through Bunnings, Tool Kit Depot retailers or AEG Onsite Trade Solutions throughout New Zealand from 26th September 2022 to 5th January 2023. These batteries may have been sold with tools in a combination kit format or sold seperately.
