Last checked

An official Product Safety NZ notice concerns 20pc Rubber Duck Baby Bath Toy- sold on Kogan NZ. The product does not comply with the mandatory Product Safety Standards (Children's Toys) Regulations 2005 in New Zealand. Specifically, testing conducted by the NZ Commerce Commission has found that several components of the rubber duck toy can penetrate the full depth of small parts test templates (Template A and/or Template B) as defined in AS/NZS ISO 8124.1:2002. This indicates that the toy contains small parts that present a choking hazard to children under 36 months of age during reasonably foreseeable use or abuse. The toy is also not equipped with any warning labels regarding age suitability or potential hazards. The size and shape of the toy or its components mean that they risk becoming lodged in a child’s airway and/or creating impaction hazards. This presents a serious choking risk, particularly for children under the age of 36 months, who are more likely to mouth small objects. Published 2025-05-15.

What to do now

Customers should immediately stop using the product, keep it out of reach of children and dispose of it safely and appropriately. Customers have been contacted through the Kogan team to initiate refunds.
