The power supply cable is composed of a Class II plug (without a protective earth conductor) and a Class I connector. If the power supply cable is used with a Class I electric appliance, there is no continuation of the protective earth conductor. In the event of a fault, the fault current would not be able to flow via the protective earth conductor, leading to the risk of an electric shock.
