Trail king

Official notice

11 Sept 2017

Last checked

Medium riskHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Trail king. On certain trailers equipped with 18", 20", 24" or 30" king pin settings, cracks may develop in the rear of the fifth wheel coupler plate because the coupler plate’s material is not thick enough to support the weight of the trailer. If the condition is not addressed, and the coupler plate cracks entirely, the trailer may become disengaged from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the coupler plate. Note: Small cracks in the corners of the coupler plate underneath the gooseneck may be visible upon inspection. Published 2017-09-11.
