An official Health Canada notice concerns Toyota. Issue: On certain RAV4 Prime models, rapid acceleration could cause the battery voltage to drop suddenly while driving in "EV mode" in cold temperatures. If this happens, the hybrid system could shut down and cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the hybrid vehicle control ECU software. Published 2023-10-27.
