An official Health Canada notice concerns RAM - Fiat chrysler automobiles. Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The sunvisor airbag warning label, User Guides and Owner’s Information DVDs incorrectly identify the vehicle’s passenger and driver frontal airbag systems as “Advanced Airbags”. In the event that occupants rely on the Owner’s Information or User Guide, they may position themselves closer to the airbag than they would if compliant information regarding the airbag system had been provided, which may increase the risk of injury to a front seat occupant in a crash where frontal airbag deployment is warranted. Correction: FCA Canada will provide vehicle owners with a supplement to the Owner’s Information DVD and User Guide to reflect the use of non-advanced airbags. Additionally, FCA Canada will also provide a replacement sunvisor airbag warning label to identify airbags as non-advanced. Published 2017-06-14.
