An official Health Canada notice concerns Patchwork and pine inc. Lip balm and artisan soap recalled. It was determined that these products contained prohibited ingredients as per Health Canada’s Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist (‘Hotlist’). Dioxane and Benzyl Cyanide are prohibited ingredients on the Hotlist. Dioxane is prohibited due to its possible carcinogenic effect. Benzyl cyanide is prohibited due to the potential release of cyanide. As of February 10, 2026, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries. What to do now
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and dispose of it in regular household garbage. Customer enquiries and refund requests will be handled directly by Patchwork and Pine Inc. Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
