An official Health Canada notice concerns Navistar. On certain vehicles, the piston spring brake chamber may have been manufactured incorrectly and could allow air leakage into the chamber. As a result, the parking brake may not fully release, thereby causing brake drag which could result in a wheel-end fire. Should rapid air loss occur, the spring brakes would suddenly engage causing immediate brake lock-up. If this happens while the vehicle is in motion, it could result in a crash. These issues could also result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the spring brake chambers. Published 2012-10-30.
