Medium riskHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Hyundai. On certain electric vehicles, the aluminium housing of the Electronic Power Control Unit (EPCU) may contain voids which could allow coolant to contact the control unit's circuit board. This could result in a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the EPCU assembly. Note: Ioniq Hybrid and plug-in Hybrid models are not affected by this recall. Published 2017-09-14.
