Risk not stated by sourceHealth Canada

An official Health Canada notice concerns Glendale. This Notice of Defect was submitted pursuant to an Order of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Court File No. 32-1311003, by the Trustee of the bankrupt Glendale Corporation. Certain RV's produced by Glendale between 2004 and 2008 with 42 mm "Nev-R-Lube" bearing axle packages, manufactured by Dexter Axle, were improperly equipped with non-zero offset wheels. Using a non-zero offset wheel may cause an overload situation on the bearing, resulting in the potential for increased bearing wear and in some cases complete bearing failure. If the bearing fails, a wheel separation may occur, resulting in the possibility of a loss of vehicle control. Additionally, this situation creates the risk that nearby bystanders or motorists may be struck by a wayward wheel assembly. Correction: The Trustee has been advised by Dexter Axle that the options for correcting the defect are as follows: 1. The wheels on affected RVs may be replaced with wheels of a zero offset design if, following a thorough examination of the axles/bearings by a qualified mechanic, no damage has been caused to the axles or bearings; or 2. The axles on affected RVs may be replaced with axles designed to be used in conjunction with non-zero offset wheels. Owners should contact the dealership where they purchased the RV, or their local RV dealership where it is not practical or possible to contact the vending dealership. Owners selecting the latter option should also contact the Dexter Axle Service Department at 2900 Industrial Parkway East, P.O. Box 250, Elkhart, Indiana, 46515, U.S.A. The phone number for Dexter Axle is (574) 295-7888. Published 2011-03-04.
