An official Health Canada notice concerns Bmw. Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the external sound generator to not work properly. Under certain conditions, the vehicle may not produce enough sound to be detected by a pedestrian or cyclist. New Canadian regulations require electric vehicles to make a minimum sound level when operating at low speeds. Safety Risk: An external sound generator that doesn't work could create an increased risk of injury for pedestrians and cyclists. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the external artificial sound generator software. Published 2024-01-03.
