An official Health Canada notice concerns Bmw. On certain vehicles, the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) control unit may be missing a weld holding a contact pin due to a manufacturing error. A missing weld could lead to a gradual increase in pin contact resistance, which could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Also, a loss of power steering assist could increase steering effort and increase the risk of a crash resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the EPS control unit. Published 2016-11-21.
