Consumers who are unsure whether they are affected can also use Volkswagen's VIN look-up tool on the Volkswagen website , contact Volkswagen on 1800 504 076 or contact their preferred Volkswagen dealer. Alternatively, for Polo vehicles, consumers can use their registration plate number to check if their vehicle is affected by going to http://www.ismyairbagsafe.com.au Consumer notifications will be prioritised based on vehicle age (oldest first) and location (areas with high humidity will be given priority). Volkswagen will contact consumers when their airbag is to be replaced. When Volkswagen contacts consumers to inform them that the recall of their vehicle has been initiated, owners should contact their local Volkswagen dealer to have the affected inflators replaced with new inflators using an alternative propellant.
