Frequency inverters are electronic devices that are installed into products operated by an electric motor, such as an in-home passenger lift. The inverter allows a user to control the speed and direction of an electric motor. Affected inverters may be used in particular lifts supplied by The Residential Lift Company and Velocity Home Lifts. This recall only involves frequency inverters with Firmware 17 installed. Firmware versions other than version 17 are not affected and no action is required for these devices. The affected frequency inverters are also used in industrial and commercial lifting and hoisting applications - see the attached industrial/commercial recall advertisement.
