What to do now
MerCruiser engines that are affected by this recall should not be operated until they have been inspected and repaired (if necessary). Engines with steering pumps that have solid pulleys need to be returned to a Mercury MerCruiser dealer for inspection and a free repair. Owners who are able to access the steering pump may perform a "self-check" to see what type of pulley their Mercruiser engine has. If the pulley is solid (see pictures above), the engine must be returned for a free repair. If the pulley is windowed, owners are asked to send a photograph of the pulley, along with the owner details and engine serial number to Mercury Marine (send to ANZP@mercmarine.com). This will allow the pulley identification to be checked and the individual engine to be accounted for in the recall records. For further information, contact Mercury Marine Customer Service on 03 9791 5822 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm AEST) or email ANZP@mercmarine.com To locate your nearest Mercury Marine dealer, visit https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/au/find-a-dealer/
