An official ACCC notice concerns Lithium-ion batteries sold for Lenovo ‘Thinkpad’ branded notebooks. If the battery packs overheat, they pose the risk of fire and burn hazard to consumers. Published 2015-04-23.

What to do now

Consumers should immediately turn off their computer, remove the battery and only power the computer through the AC adaptor and power cord. Consumers are asked to visit www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram2014 to determine if they are affected and to arrange for a free replacement battery. They were either: (a) included in Lenovo products, (b) distributed as stand-alone replacement packs, or (c) distributed as a stand-alone option.
