An official ACCC notice concerns Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 74° V6 (3.4 L) Outboard engines. In some circumstances, this situation may result in a loss of steering control and possibly cause serious injuries or even death. Published 2015-06-22.
What to do now
Call an authorized BRP Evinrude dealer and make an appointment to have your outboard(s) serviced. Meanwhile, do not operate the outboard over 3000 RPM. Do not steer the outboard hard-over to port or starboard. The service will be performed at no charge to you. BRP will send a safety recall letter to all registered owners of an affected product.
