An official ACCC notice concerns Bike Friday Tikit Custom Bicycle. If the handlebar stem separates from the bicycle, the cyclist may lose control of the bike and crash. Published 2012-12-11.
What to do now
If you have an affected bicycle, cease using it until a new replacement handlebar stem can be fitted. Contact Bike Friday for a replacement stem. The replacement will be sent to the customer with instructions to have a dealer or local bike mechanic replace the handlebar stem. Bike Friday will give the customer or the Bike Friday dealer a credit slip as compensation for the labour.
