An official ACCC notice concerns Promotional Silicone LED bicycle light distributed as part of the RAA Street Smart Program. If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death. In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children. Published 2019-04-05.
What to do now
Consumers who received a free promotional bicycle light should dispose of the light by wrapping the product in paper and disposing of it in the household rubbish. After disposal, consumers should notify ssmart@raa.com.au so that the safe disposal of the product can be monitored. For further information, contact RAA on 08 8202 4600.
